U.S. based manufacturer of energy-saving devices for commercial and residential air conditioning systems. I served as the “communications director,” as the staff public relations adviser, lead media relations/investor relations contact, market researcher, and chief website content creator. I managed marketing design and branding; created press releases, white papers, marketing collateral, website content, dealer training manuals, installation and maintenance manuals. I produced surveys, market assessments, videos and PowerPoint presentations. I worked directly with the CEO and other senior executives to set communications strategy and execute activities. The company is publicly traded under the symbol GDGI. My contract with the company was suspended pending completion of management reorganization.

Highlights

Korea Telecom, Korea Steel: I provided logistical and research support to set up an international agreement to sell and support company core products in Korea (est. value of $7.5m over three years).

Private Placement and Investor Prospectus: I worked closely with other executives (including the corporate attorney) to create a 50-page placement memorandum and a 20-page Investor Prospectus.

Technology Overview and White Paper: I created a 20-page overview of the company’s technology and summarized three university studies and the corporation’s own field tests.

TechAmerica/Harvey Mudd High-Tech Innovation Award for Green Engineering: I was the chief organizer for a drive to compete for the annual engineering award. The company won the 2010 award over Fisker Automotive and other high-budget contenders.

Highlights

Laguna Woods Village Rebranding Project: Formerly “Leisure World,” the community managers hired me to conduct focus groups with residents via several community meetings for input on a renaming/branding project. I also wrote branding manuals and communications guidelines (2007).

Marriott Los Angeles Downtown Redevelopment Plan: Co-researched and wrote 200+ page strategic business plan. Created “LA Touch” marketing campaign and assisted in implementing a joint public relations campaign with the Los Angeles Redevelopment Authority and the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau. (2007-08).

Cal Neva Resort and Casino Redevelopment/Rebranding Plan: Co-researched and wrote 80-page strategic plan for investors and developer. For Hotel Ventures, Inc. and Bedian International, Inc. (2007).

The company promoted online wellness with information and incentives to more than 400,000 opt-in members. I managed website content creation and management for the company’s flagship membership website, mywellness360.com. I also managed all communications including website management, public relations: media relations, research, special events and investor relations. I developed publications for dissemination to members and employers, maintained SEO campaign and managed regular press release submissions in support of the company’s investment relations and stock reporting requirements. The company was forced to downsize and retained me as a consultant until the business closed in August 2009.

Highlights

HRA360: Co-researched and designed a detailed health risk assessment survey and database. Designed the test form, database, results criteria (personal and corporate results), and implementation manual.

Stitch in Time: Co-wrote, produced and co-presented a 3-hour seminar about employee wellness programs as a risk mitigation strategy for employers. Seminar was approved for continuing education credits for accredited members of the Risk Managers Society.

Wellness360 Magazine: Developed a prototype magazine for evaluation by the board of directors and investors. Credited as “executive editor.”

World Trade Centers Association – Business Tourism, Los Angeles, CA

Contracted by members of the WTCA to lead a three-years international drive to promote business tourism. Tasks included planning and managing various marketing communications projects and chief representative for the project in Europe, Japan, Korea and the U.S.

  • I was the keynote speaker for all “WTCA Business Tourism” events (1997-1999).
  • I organized meetings in the U.S., Spain (Seville, Barcelona), France (Lyons), Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Okinawa), South Korea (Seoul), and Italy (Trieste).
  • I scheduled, organized and managed my own appearances at trade shows and other public events.
  • I managed a small staff of two travel advisers and five travel writers.
  • I researched, scheduled, organized and managed 11 ‘business tourism missions’ between France, Italy, Spain, Korea, Japan and various cities in the United States.
  • The project was credited for creating an international business tourism alliance between 85 cities.
Highlights

Keynote Presenter: For all WTCA-sponsored “business tourism” events held in Europe, Asia, and North America for groups as large as 300 people. Many of the presentations included handouts, PowerPoint presentation, speech, and Q&A.

Website: Produced and designed a branded site called “TourismNOW.com” that featured online reservations (air, hotel, car rental). The service was promoted as a business tourism service to the worldwide membership.

Magazine: Published “Business Tourism Magazine,” an online magazine that promoted about locations 120 worldwide.

Business Tourism Mission: Developed a business tourism mission with a catalog of 85 business tourism destinations in the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Korea.
